High Wind
High Wind is a Belgian based consortium company that combines the knowledge and experience of the partners in developing and realizing technology that allows safer, faster & less weather dependent wind turbine installation. The Boom Lock© system is operational today and is in use on GeoSea’s JUV Neptune for installation or maintenance of offshore wind farms.
High Wind has successfully completed conceptual design of the Boom Lock tool in 2012 and 2013. The first Boom Lock© was completed in January 2015 and undertook extensive testing at the REBO site in the port of Ostend. Here it outperformed the design specification by keeping a 6MW-turbine blade steady in wind gusts of up to 20 m/s.
Since then, the Boom Lock© system has completed its first offshore installation project, supporting the installation of 15 x MHI Vestas V112 3.3MW wind turbines at Vattenfall’s Kentish Flats Extension.
