Optimising Wind Farms In Cold Climates

Optimising Wind Farms in Cold Climates

Thank you for joining us in 2017

Thank you to our delegates, speakers and sponsors who joined us at this forum as we explored the challenges surrounding wind farms in cold climates.

Optimising Wind Farms In Cold Climates focused on both the commercial and technical complexities which impede on the operation of wind farms. We explored existing solutions for unpredictable icing events and risk of ice throw.

  • SITE VISIT TO ONE OF EUROPE'S LARGEST CLIMATIC TEST CHAMBERS.  In 2017 we visited OWI-Lab, the facility specialised in climatic testing of wind components, systems and sub-systems against  cold start, design verification testing, and icing.
  • Learning the intricacies and potential of investing in onshore and offshore sites affected by icing and cold climates

  • Hearing first hand from the TASK19 members on their recommended practices

  • Gaining insights into how to deal with with the unpredictability of icing including studies on icing modelling vs. ice loss and how to overcome the differences in results

  • Discussing with leading specialists how to prevent ice throw and overcome public conern by implementing effective safety practices
