The ‘Capture the Wind' tour starts in Aberdeen, South Dakota today and visits locations in states including Iowa, Illinois, Ohio, Kentucky and Texas. It finishes off at Windpower 2010 on May 23.

GE said the events aims to educate the public about how its wind turbines are affecting the lives of ordinary people. Visitors will also be invited to sign there names on the turbine blade, which GE says will take the form of a "travelling petition".

Social networking sites, such as Facebook and Twitter have been used to promote the tour.
