The department's deputy minister Huang Chung-chiou said offshore wind generation should be made a "top priority" and added the Taiwan Strait contained a number of potential locations for projects. He cited Denmark, the UK and Holland's offshore projects as positive examples.

Earlier this month German turbine builder Enercon won a new order from Taiwan Power Company for three wind projects in Taiwan.
According to Enercon's in-house magazine Windblatt, the company installing six 900kW turbines and 12 2.3MW turbines with partner Chung-Hsin Electric & Machinery Manufacturing Corporation.
