Wind Wire: United States - Obama budget backs wind

The Obama administration's proposed 2011 federal budget includes a 53% year-on-year increase for wind power funding to $123 million - attributable to a $49 million allocation for offshore development, which went unfunded in 2009 and 2010.

Other areas targeted for expansion include technology supply chain analysis and facilitation, along with wind turbine manufacturing process research and development. But arguably the package's most interesting aspect is the government's effort to address the financial, technical, environmental, regulatory and public acceptance aspects of the nation's untapped offshore resources.
