BP and Ridgeline to build Idaho wind farm

US: Ridgeline Energy and BP Wind Energy have announced plans build a 125MW wind farm in Idaho.

The Goshen North wind farm will be contructed in Bonneville County and will become the largest wind farm in the state. It will consist of 83 GE xle wind turbines with a capacity of 1.5MW.

The project is expected to be online before the end of the year. A power purchase agreement has been set up with Southern California Edison for all of the electricity provided by the wind farm.

Ridgeline CEO Steve Voorhees said: "This investment that we are making will create new jobs during the construction, deliver an additional revenue stream to rural communities without impacting traditional farming and ranching, and provide clean affordable power."

According to the latest Windpower Monthly Market Status Report for the US, Idaho has a total wind energy capacity of 146.7MW with 71.4MW added last year.
