Wind Wire: Turkey - Borusan completes first plant

Borusan Enerji has completed its first wind power plant in the north-west of Turkey, a 45MW installation in Bandirma on the Sea of Marmara, comprising 15 Vestas 3MW turbines.

A second phase of 15MW is awaiting consent. Borusan Enerji is jointly owned by the Turkish conglomerate Borusan Holding and EnBW, one of Germany's major energy suppliers, following a 50-50 partnership agreement last year (Windpower Monthly, April 2009). Borusan Enerji is targeting 2GW of mostly renewables capacity over the next eight to ten years, requiring an estimated investment of around EUR2.5 billion.
