All 60 Vestas turbines are now installed but the project, already two and a half years in construction, is not expected to be completed until the end of the year at the earliest - slipping from its planned completion date of spring 2009. Robin Rigg is the third UK offshore wind farm to begin generating this year. In July RWE npower renewables' 90 MW Rhyl Flats project exported its first power to shore on the north Wales coast, and Gunfleet Sands, off England's east coast, began generating in August.
Wind wire: Solway Firth generating
The 180 MW Robin Rigg offshore wind farm in the Solway Firth has started generating electricity, with the first turbine switched on by developer E.ON UK in September.
