It belongs to the estate owners, who plan to recoup their investment from selling excess power to the local utility Electricidade de Mocambique (EDM) and the sale of carbon credits. The turbine was supplied by PalmTree Power, a South African company which developed the rugged, variable-speed, direct-drive unit for use in isolated locations in developing countries. The unit is equipped with a Bluetooth GPS monitoring system with a live autocam allowing the operators to monitor the turbine via a mobile phone or computer from anywhere in South Africa.
