The first wind farm in Calabria is a 56 MW facility in the municipalities of Maida and Cortale, while the second, an 8 MW project, is sited in San Floro. Both wind farms are due to be operational in 2010. Enel has recently begun focusing on building a wind portfolio in Calabria, currently one of Italy's hottest regions for wind projects. Earlier in 2009, it unveiled a 50-50 joint venture with Japanese developer Eurus for the development of up to 400 MW of projects in the region.
