Wind Wire: More on the way

Italian company MK Fintel has been issued a license to build two small wind power plants before expanding the venture into a fully fledged wind farm comprising 52 turbines with capacities of 2 to 3 MW each in the villages of Izbiste, Parta and Grebenac in Serbia's South Banat region.

MK Fintel's chief executive Tiziano Giovanetti says the plans are already at a quite advanced stage, having obtained the energy permit and ordered the equipment, which should be delivered in early 2010. However, he points out that legal regulations in Serbia have not yet been defined so that the procedures which investors should observe are not clear. "This slows down the process somewhat," he says. "If all goes according to plan, we will start construction work next spring."
