Wind Wire: Carbon offset

Spanish renewables firm Acciona has linked its wholly owned 61.5 MW Yeong Yang wind farm in South Korea to the grid.

The EUR100 million plant, in the North Gyeongsang region of southern Korea, uses 41 Acciona 1.5 MW turbines with a tower height of 80 metres and rotor diameter of 77 metres.

The project is Acciona's second wind farm to be registered under the UN's Clean Development Mechanism, allowing it to sell the project's carbon offsets, which are projected at 1.11 million tonnes of CO2. Acciona can sell the emission reduction certificates on the emissions trading market.
