Wind Wire: Three projects

Bulgarian investment firm and project developer Elana Holding expects to receive construction permits for three wind farm projects in southern Bulgaria this autumn with a combined capacity of 116 MW.

All the projects are likely to use Vestas 2 MW turbines, says Elana Holding's Ivan Gerginov. Popsko wind farm in the municipality of Ivailovgrad is planned for 16 turbines; a project spread across sites at Chal, Kachulka, Perunika and Pelin in the municipality of Krumvogard is planned for 32 turbines; and the third farm, in Ranilist and Ivantsi in the municipality of Kurtzhali, will have ten turbines. Construction on the projects is expected to begin in 2010 and finish in 2011. Elana is negotiating with buyers or co-investors for all three wind farms.
