Wind Wire: Getting established

German wind project developer Energiequelle is making strides in France, completing its first French wind power project.

The 13.8 MW installation at Les Hauteurs de l'Albe, in the north-easterly Moselle departement, comprises six Enercon 2.3 MW turbines.

It has also completed the purchase of 32 MW from troubled French developer and producer Theolia for an undisclosed sum. The deal includes a 12 MW project, using Repower 2 MW turbines, under construction at Baudignecourt, in the Meuse departement of north-east France.

The rest is made up of two fully permitted projects: 12 MW at Charmois, also in the Meuse, and 8 MW at Chermisey in the nearby Vosges departement. Theolia's Marc van't Noordende says the sale "represents a new step forward in our program to sell approximately 200 MW of wind projects and assets" and demonstrates that the company's "turn-around strategy is on track."

Energiequelle is confident this is "just the beginning of further co-operation with Theolia and an excellent basis for establishing Energiequelle in the French market." All three projects are due for commissioning by the end of next year, along with 11.5 MW at Les Douves des Epinettes, in Brittany, which Energiquelle bought from P&T Technologie's French subsidiary.
