Wind Wire: Contracts for sale

Argentinean state company Energia Argentina SA (Enarsa) is to launch a call for proposals for renewable energy projects on August 26.

The groundbreaking Generacion Renovable (GENREN) program is offering 15-year power purchase contracts for up to 1 GW of new renewables, with 500 MW set aside for wind projects up to 50 MW. Enarsa says that bids should be assessed by September 16 with the final contract signed on September 28. Some of the best winds in South America are found in Argentina's Patagonia region. Local wind turbine manufacturer Impsa, owned by the Pescarmona Group, says that aspects of the law remain unclear.
