RELAXING LIMITS FOR OWN GENERATION

Electricity Regulator Stephen Littlechild is considering relaxing limits on own-generation by the 12 Regional Electricity Companies. Several RECs would like to increase the amount of generating plant they either own or in which they have an interest. Littlechild is inviting comments from all interested parties on the issue. Among the options for consideration is whether some classes of electricity production -- such as renewable plant or embedded generation -- should be treated differently.
