Gamesa gets exclusive development rights in Castile La Mancha
1 June 2001
The regional government of Castile La Mancha has approved the second strategic regional wind plan for wind developer Gamesa Energía, sister company of Spanish turbine manufacturer Gamesa Eólica. Along with its first plan, this gives the company exclusive rights to research wind resources and development viability at a total of 29 sites in the region. Gamesa Energía is aiming to develop 250 MW in the area. Its two strategic plans are linked with an industrial strategy to invest ESP 3100 million (EUR 18.6 million) and create 320 jobs. Looking beyond Castile La Mancha, Gamesa Energía expects to bring wind power developments totalling 500 MW on-line between 2000 and 2002, using 660 kW and 850 kW Gamesa Eólica turbines.
