Of the record number of 802 delegates attending the EWEA conference sessions, the Danes were an all dominant presence, with 140 in attendance, by far the highest national contingency. Several participants said they felt swamped by staff from the Danish Risø National Laboratory: Risøites clocked in at 42. The host country, France, had 109 registered participants with the UK and Germany represented by between 80 and 90 visitors. The Netherlands fielded 67, while Japan had a notably high number of 32; USA had 30. Delegates came from the farthest reaches of the world, including Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Brazil, Nepal, South Africa and New Zealand. At the exhibition, 50 companies brought with them 132 representatives.
