Oil corporation confirms 1000 MW off Shandong coast
China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) has confirmed plans to proceed with an 1100 MW wind farm in the coastal area of Weihai city, Shandong province. First mooted in 2006, the project will see 1000 MW of capacity installed offshore and the rest onshore. Upon completion of the ten year CNY 21 billion project ($3 billion), the facility is expected to produce 2050 GWh a year. Construction is scheduled to start in October. CNOOC installed a wind-monitoring mast at its selected offshore location in March.
