ScottishPower takes the lead in Northern Ireland

ScottishPower has bought a 10 MW wind project in County Antrim to bring the company's capacity in Northern Ireland to 37 MW, making it the UK province's biggest wind energy generator. It bought the five-turbine Wolf Bog project for over £10 million from Renewable Energy Systems (RES). Construction starts on site this month, with the wind farm expected to be operational in spring 2008. From ScottishPower, Keith Anderson says that Wolf Bog will take the company's UK wind generation to 355 MW. "We look forward to developing other opportunities in the future," he adds. RES, meantime, has two wind farms under construction in Northern Ireland with a number of further projects in development.
