Funding for island wind farms
Power supply company Ålands Elandelslag has secured funding to build two wind farms in the Åland archipelago between Sweden and Finland. The first is planned for a site in the east of the island between Hammarland and Eckerös and the second to the south at Bråttö near Föglö. The EUR 43 million development plan is for the installation of 14 wind turbines by the end of 2010. The first six turbines, with rated capacities in the 2-2.5 MW range, are earmarked for the Hammarland-Eckerös site, with the remaining eight destined for Bråttö. Ålands Elandelslag is based at Mariehamn.
