New turbine uses Spanish technology

The inauguration of the 7.2 MW Yumen wind plant in the north-western Chinese province of Gansu brings China's wind capacity to around 361 MW. The project is the first in the country to use technology from Spain's Gamesa Eólica. It supplied all 12, 660 kW turbines and supervised plant installation and local tower manufacture. Gamesa Eólica says it is increasingly looking at exports to absorb its annual production capacity of 1600 turbines.
