Wind rush in Canada

To the surprise of not only the local authority but also of the wind developers applying for permits, nearly 200 MW of wind plant projects are being planned for sites in the windy south of the Canadian province of Alberta. Prices pushed up by demand for more power and the levelling of the playing field by market deregulation are the reasons for the sudden activity, say developers. Canada's installed wind power capacity could more than double as a result.
