Wind turbines accused for spreading foot and mouth disease
1 June 2001
One of the most absurd accusations to be levelled against wind energy in the UK comes from a reader of the North West Evening Mail. In a letter to the newspaper, A G Robb from Dalton suggests that wind turbines are helping the spread of foot and mouth disease which is devastating swathes of Cumbria -- the worst afflicted area of the country. "The reason foot and mouth disease is worse in Cumbria than any other county may be because it could be carried, moved or helped around by turbines from a wind farm," he says.
