Army offers two military sites in northern Germany for wind power projects
1 September 2005
The Bundeswehr, Germany's federal armed forces, is offering two sites on military property in northern Germany for wind power projects for a period of 25 years. Up to 12 turbines are expected be installed at two sites in Lower Saxony at Ehra-Lessien and Nienburg-Langendamm. Tenders to develop the projects are due to be issued this month. The army is looking at 250 further sites in the hope that they, too, could earn money from being leased to wind turbine developers while still being used for military purposes.
