One of Japan's largest companies, the NKK corporation, is currently negotiating a partnership agreement with wind turbine manufacturer Lagerwey of the Netherlands. NKK, which describes itself as one of Japan's foremost heavy industrial companies, involved in steel, shipbuilding, steel fabrication, construction, industrial machinery and engineering, would act as Lagerwey's local sales organisation. The Dutch company's Remco Boersma says Lagerwey has tendered to supply a number of small scale wind farms in Japan. Talks are still under way with NKK, but Boersma hopes to announce orders and details of other projects in the near future. Boersma says Lagerwey is now financially strong following a hefty capital injection earlier this year.
