Gamesa Eólica has inaugurated its fourth blade manufacturing plant. The ESP 1.6 billion (EUR 9.8 million) factory, Estructuras Eólicas Miranda, is in the Miranda de Ebro area of Burgos, Castile and León. The commitment comes at the same time as a warning from regional wind developers association APECYL -- of which Gamesa is a founding member -- that unless the region speeds up its licensing of new wind plant, developers will retract industrial contracts. The vast bulk of Castile and León's 213 MW wind capacity has been supplied by Gamesa Eólica. Its project development wing, Gamesa Energía, brought its first wind plant in the region -- 19.8 MW at Tabalado -- on-line as recently as the autumn. Gamesa Energía is also developing the 23.8 MW Labradas wind plant in Zamora province; the project has recently been authorised by the regional industry department.
