Two developers pick Vestas turbines for combined 66 MW

Eole-RES, the French arm of the UK's Renewable Energy Systems (RES), is one of two firms to select Vestas turbines for a combined 66 MW of wind turbine for installation in France. The orders include a five-year maintenance contract in both cases. The larger one is from Eole-RES for 24, 2 MW turbines to be delivered in August 2009 to the Mont Gimont project in the Haute-Marne département of northern France. Eole-RES currently has 300 MW turning or under construction in France, 170 MW of which is made up of Vestas machines. It has a further 1500 MW under development in the country. The second order comes from another local developer-operator, Enel Erelis, a subsidiary of Italy's Enel, this time for nine 2 MW units destined for two projects in the Loire département. Delivery is scheduled for January 2009, for commissioning in April. To date, Enel Erelis has just 8.1 MW in operation in France, but 118 MW under construction and more than 250 MW in the permitting process.
