The European Commission's energy directorate, DG XVII, has issued a reminder that January 30 is the deadline for applications to the last round of the current Thermie energy demonstration programme. The earliest call for proposals for a subsequent round of Thermie will be most likely not be until 1999. Applications must be submitted jointly by proposers from at least two EU countries and, as always, Thermie projects can be supported by up to 40% of project costs, or by as much as 100% of costs if the purpose is to disseminate results or prepare strategic documents or other "support" activities. Thermie applications are invited in the areas of rational use of energy, renewable energy and fossil fuels, with wind one of six separate bands for renewables technologies.
