Misconception on gearbox standard

There is an apparent misconception regarding the scope of the standard for wind turbine gearboxes evolved by the American Gear Manufacturers Association, ANSI/AGMA/AWEA 6006-A03. It includes only those gear arrangements where there was sufficient operating experience at the time of writing.

The guidelines may be applied to other gear arrangements provided the specifications are appropriately modified to accommodate the characteristics of the different gear arrangements.
