Where was wind?

The Renewables Power Delivery conference (main story) was held at London's Olympia centre alongside the UK's first large scale show on renewable energy, the Sustainable Energy/Energy Efficiency Expo. More than 130 companies exhibited at the event on October 22-24, which drew over 3000 visitors. Fringe events included three conferences and six exhibitor seminars.

Among the renewable energy technologies present, solar photovoltaic and biomass were well represented, but the wind industry was nowhere to be seen. "Where is the wind community?" asked one exhibiting firm of consultants. "But it is a brilliant event, even without them," he added. The expo ran just three weeks after the British Wind Energy Association's well attended annual conference and exhibition, also held in southern in England. Exhibitors at Olympia were generally enthusiastic about the quality of visitor, reporting that they included corporate and business representatives, some local authorities and some individuals off the street.
