Swiss company NEK Umwelttechnik and its Spanish subsidiary, Fronterwind, have done a co-operation deal with German wind project developer Umweltkontor to build an offshore wind farm in Spain known as Cabo de Trafalgar. The project is slated for a 50 square kilometre area 15 to 25 kilometres from the coast of Cadiz in the Atlantic Ocean, where water depths are between 15 and 25 metres. The first phase is sized at 200 MW using 2 MW machines and is estimated to cost up to DEM 700 million, says Umweltkontor.
