Public support for building nuclear plants in Japan at all time low reveals report

Public support for building nuclear power plants in Japan has dropped to its lowest level on record, according to figures released by the Research Council for Energy and Information Technology. Safety concerns are cited as the reason why. According to the survey only 25% of respondents supported building nuclear power plants -- 7% less than in the last survey from1998. Among the supporters for nuclear power, 4% voiced strong support for building nuclear stations, and 21% said nuclear stations should be constructed gradually.
