Four national groupings of wind developers have been shortlisted by Morocco for supply of a 50 MW wind plant. The project is to be sited on the country's northern coast, across the Gibraltar Straits from Spain's 30 MW Tarifa wind farm. Average winds at the site are 10-11 m/s, according to the request for proposals issued by the Office National d'Electricité in Morocco. The countries represented in the shortlist are Japan, Spain, the US and France. The French tender has been put forward by a group made up of the developer of France's only wind farm, Tramontana, Vestas of Denmark and banker Petroflgas. Tramontana's Jean-Michel Germa says Vestas 500 kW machines have been proposed by his group.
