New central wind generation forecasting system

Following discussions with the federal government, the National Electricity Market Management Company (NEMMCO) has agreed to manage the development and implementation of an Australian Wind Energy Forecasting System. The system will centrally forecast wind generation in the national electricity market and provide an interface to the existing NEMMCO systems producing market forecast data. NEMMCO is also considering replacing its current system for forecasting demand to be met by scheduled generation. Companies with wind generation forecasting solutions -- and possibly for demand forecasting too -- are invited to register their interest by October 9. The contract is expected to be awarded by March.
