Nuclear giant AREVA joins French renewables campaigners

The giant French company AREVA, "the world leader in nuclear energy," has joined the French renewables campaigning organisation Syndicat des Energies Renouvelables (SER). AREVA gets its green credentials via its subsidiary, Jeumont SA, which is the only manufacturer of large wind turbines in France. According to a statement put out by SER and AREVA, wind and nuclear are complementary forms of energy, both necessary for France to produce the electricity it needs and reduce its emission of greenhouse gases. By joining SER, AREVA says it is "proving its willingness to play a full role in creating a mix of energies in France and especially in the development of the wind industry."
