Mitsui on Hokkaido too

Japanese trading company Mitsui & Co is also considering development of a 10 MW wind farm near Wakkanai, Hokkaido (see above), to be on line next year. Mitsui & Co is co-operating with Ishikawajima Harima Heavy Industries (IHI), which is lending technical support. IHI is the Japanese agent for German/Danish wind company Nordex Balcke-Durr. Turbines of no less than 1 MW rated capacity are preferred by Mitsui & Co. Accordng to the Japanese government's New Energy Development Organisation (NEDO), the annual average wind speed in Wakkanai is 7 m/s. Wind energy is accepted as being profitable in Japan from wind speeds of 5.8 m/s.
