Plans to develop new wind plant in Australia

While awaiting approval for its 40-50 MW Green Point Wind Development, 500 kilometres south of Adelaide in South Australia, Wind Prospect has announced plans to develop another site on the state's Eyre Peninsula. Preliminary community consultation for a 55-70 MW wind farm of 35 turbines on the peninsula at Yabmana will begin with a public exhibition on October 9. The project is due to be given planning approval by January 2002. Meantime planning approval for the 25 turbine Green Point project is expected this month. The public submission period for the project closed August 18 -- with just two submissions received. Neither of these are expected to take the project into the planning appeal process. Solicitations for the wind turbine supply agreement will be sought once final approval is secured.
