A 100 MW Kenetech Windpower project in south Washington state has made it through to final negotiations with Snohomish Public Utilities District. The district chose the project, in Walla Walla County, as well as eight other supply side and five demand side projects on September 20, says the PUD's Barbara Beck. Final negotiations will now begin with the five conservation projects, as well as with the one other renewables supply side project, a small hydro proposal for which the federal license will soon expire. For the remaining project, including Kenetech's, public comment will be taken in the second half of October, a recommendation will be made to the commission at the beginning of November. The district requested no more than 250 MW of additional power supply.
