Spanish utility Endesa starts wind measuring in Oaxaca

Spanish utility Endesa's renewable power subsidiary, Endesa Cogeneracion y Renovables (ECyR), signed land rental contracts in April at a site in Oaxaca state, Mexico, that will enable it to start wind measurement tests. Alejandro Sampelayo of Expansion Exterior, a Spanish public-private enterprise promoting ECyR in Mexico, says the studies will take at least 12 months. ECyR has not yet requested any generation permits, though it expects construction of a resulting project to start within 18 months, pending favourable wind data.
