Praise for Danish plans to solicit three 160 MW offshore wind farms

The head of the Danish wind turbine industry association, Karl Gustav Nielsen, has praised a government report on how it plans to solicit three 160 MW offshore wind farms while meeting the country's CO2 reduction obligation (Windpower Monthly, December 2002). "One of the report's more important conclusions is about minimising the risks for investors," says Nielsen. "By doing that, you both attract bidders for the projects and you secure the highest possible competition between them -- thereby securing that the construction of offshore turbines happens at the lowest possible cost to society."
