Poor winds have sharp influence on first quarter wind generation

Poor winds in January had a sharp influence on wind generation in Germany during the first quarter of the year. While 1800 MW of new plant came online during the course of 2005, the 6.7 TWh of total wind generation in the first quarter was down a third on the 10.2 TWh generated in the same period of 2005. Moreover, in January 2005, wind turbines generated 5.1 TWh while in January 2006 they produced just 1.8 TWh.
