The world needs clear cut market strategies to stimulate the evolution of energy supply systems that are both sustainable and affordable. Greater use of renewables is a key part of the essential energy system. But well thought-out policies based on detailed technical and economic examination of all the renewable energy technologies are few and far between. Much greater objectivity -- and far less arbitrary decision making -- is required of governments. First and foremost, they need to be better informed across the whole range of technologies.
