Integration control centre exhibited
1 September 2000
A wind energy control centre for optimising the integration of large wind station output into an electricity supply system is being exhibited at the world exhibition, Expo 2000, which closes at the end of this month in Hannover. The centre registers wind electricity fed into a transmission system at any one moment, providing the data for developing a wind energy forecasting system for hours ahead. It was developed by the Institute for Solar Energy Supply Technology (ISET). "Utilities will not be able to do without such aids [as] they seek to integrate steadily growing wind energy capacity into the existing conventional electricity generation system," says Ralf Schwarz of ISET.
