Tests underway on gear box from GE turbine at Utgrunden

A gear box has been removed from one of seven 1.5 MW GE Wind turbines at the Utgrunden offshore wind farm in Sweden. Routine tests had revealed a higher rate of vibration than normal, confirms Andreas Wagner of GE Wind Energy. As a precautionary measure, the gear box was removed and taken to GE's headquarters in Salzbergen, Germany, for tests. None of the other turbines are affected.
