Biggest wind farm online at 42.5 MW

At 42.5 MW, Turkey's biggest wind power plant is now turning at Yuntdag, near Izmir. It represents a first for DOST Enerji, founded in December 2006 as a joint venture between local telecoms company MV Holdings (51%), Portmobil Telecommunications (40%) and RDO Investment (9%) to invest in renewable generation (Windpower Monthly, May 2007). It is also a first in Turkey for Nordex, which supplied the 17, 2.5 MW turbines. DOST has applications pending for an additional 7.5 MW at Yuntdag and another 250 MW elsewhere in Turkey. Meantime, it is installing 15 MW at Kores, also near Izmir and using Nordex 2.5 MW machines, for completion in mid-2009.
