Advanced prototype selections

The participants in five clusters of advanced prototype turbines have been announced by the Electric Power Reserach Institute (EPRI) under its so-called Turbine Verification Programme (TVP), founded in 1992 and funded by the US Department of Energy. Turbine models named so far are the Zond Z-50 and Z-48 750 kW units, Cannon Wind Eagle 300 turbines, Tacke low wind 600 kW units and the 66 kW Atlantic Orient Corp 15-50 turbine. The TVP III Distributed Wind Generation projects are owned and operated by the host utilities. See next issue of Windpower Monthly for details.
