Northern States Power (NSP) of Minnesota received 17 bids totalling 1375 MW in response to its recent request for wind bids for development on Buffalo Ridge. The final award or awards will be announced between April and June, says NSP's Glynis Hinschberger. Asked if Kenetech's patent lawsuit (page 22) could have any impact on bids, she said she was not aware there was a lawsuit and did not know if Enercon or New World were involved in bids. Submissions are confidential and being handled by an independent consulting firm in Massachusetts. "I don't know what effect if any a lawsuit would have," she said. A Request for Proposals was issued on October 24 for up to 100 MW nameplate capacity. The 100 MW must be in service by the end of 1996. The contracts will be for five to 30 years.
