A heat and power group based in southern Finland has emerged as a principal player in the development of a 33 MW wind farm planned for Ajos harbour in Kemi. Hamina Energia says it hopes to attract new investors to the coastal project, which will see 11, 3 MW machines installed by the end of 2007. Domestic manufacturer WinWind is supplying the first 3 MW machine. "Our primary goal is to erect and commission the 3 MW turbine so that it is generating electricity before the end of the year," says WinWind's Erkki Kunnari, "New investors are being sought to provide the finance to complete the project," he adds. "Apart from the stage-one contract, no further contracts have been signed on the turbine supply side, although we remain hopeful we can secure additional orders as the project progresses."
