Government subsidises domestic technology
1 October 2008
China's government has confirmed plans to subsidise domestic wind equipment research and development It will pay companies CNY 600/kW ($88/kW) for the first 50, 1.5 MW or larger machines produced specifically for R&D purposes. To be eligible, machines must have been operating for 240 hours. The subsidy is applicable only to wholly owned or majority owned domestic companies that primarily source components from suppliers that are also wholly or majority Chinese owned. The money must be equally split between the turbine manufacturer and its component suppliers, with the distribution of the share to suppliers determined by product type and cost.
